Exhibit Designers

The design team for the Connecticut Science Center’s exhibits is a collaborative one that draws on the creative energies and scientific knowledge of two acclaimed design firms.

Thinc Design
Founded in 1992 by Tom Hennes, Thinc Design leads the field in creating extraordinary exhibitions.  Thinc strategizes plans, conceptualizes, designs and build exhibitions that reach diverse publics in new and exciting ways.  Thinc’s exhibitions are in natural history museums, science centers, heritage museums, maritime centers and aquariums, botanical gardens, and theme parks.  Thinc also designs select projects for corporate clients.  Based in New York City, Thinc works with clients throughout the United States and internationally.

Thinc’s designs enable visitors to see the world around them through new eyes, sense their surroundings with awakened feelings, expand their ways of thinking, find new meanings and live their lives more richly.

Jeff Kennedy Associates, Inc. is an interdisciplinary design firm specializing in the planning and design of innovative learning environments for science-technology centers, museums, informal education centers and corporations.

The firm is one of the few in the nation with depth of experience and expertise in both themed immersion environments and interactive exhibits that engage visitors in hands-on, bodies-on, senses-on learning. Jeff Kennedy's "User Friendly: Hands-On Exhibits That Work," written through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, has become a standard reference tool in the fields of interactive and universal design. Jeff Kennedy Associates, Inc.’s work can be seen in settings as varied as the New York Hall of Science, Boston's John F. Kennedy Library and Museum and the public utility-sponsored Pacific Energy Center in San Francisco. In each case, the experiences bring people together, connecting them with ideas, and with each other.
